Inflammation vs. Chronic Inflammation
Do you suffer from chronic inflammation? Here’s a crazy idea: the next time you have an ache or pain in your body don’t reach for the ibuprofen. Focus on where it’s coming from— is your knee, your gut or your pelvis? Don’t cover the pain. Instead, visit your Roswell Chiropractor. Why? Because inflammation is your body’s way of telling you there is pain that needs to be addressed not suppressed.
It’s like if there is a fire. If you smell the smoke, see the flames and hear the alarm, are you going to put on headphones while the building collapses around you? Or, are you going to call the fire department and put out the fire? That’s what inflammation means. It’s not a problem. It’s a symptom.
A Symptom of What?
Anything. Inflammation—when working correctly—is predominantly harmless. Inflammation could be that your knee is getting old. That’s normal. There will be some wear and tear as we age. It happens when you stub your toe or after a particularly rigorous workout. As the muscles repair and nerves respond inflammation will occur. However, chronic inflammation can mean something more severe—like arthritis or even heart disease. If you experience constant inflammation it could very well be a warning sign of a larger problem.
Inflammation is part of the body’s immune response; without it, we can’t heal. But when it’s out of control it can damage your system.
Listen to inflammation because it’s your body giving you a cry for help.
It’s not that I am suggesting that you live your life in pain. But every time we use a medication that suppresses inflammation, we are effectively suppressing detoxification, repair of the cells and protection of injured tissues. What I am suggesting is that you become a responsible advocate for your own good health.
Relying on medication will not always improve your health. Optimizing your health depends on understanding the mechanisms that are responsible for your body’s needs to maintain a chronic inflammatory approach. Often, an integrative physician who combines traditional and holistic principles to treat patients can identify these reasons. By examining the patient’s diet, lifestyle and environmental influences on health, many mechanisms can be uncovered and addressed.
When Do I Need To See A Chiropractor?
Don’t wait until chronic inflammation impedes or halts your day to day activities and leads to severe complications. Remember: Address Don’t Suppress!
When utilizing chiropractic care, your central nervous system is able to pass messages effectively between your brain and your immune system, causing it to function optimally and prevent pain-related issues before they even begin. However, should inflammation develop, your body naturally raises the levels of certain anti-inflammatory agents after receiving chiropractic adjustments, which allows it to effectively heal on its own. This means that you can improve and feel great without having to take any types of drugs or other unnatural substances to rid your body of inflammation. Overall, chiropractic care reduces inflammation and increases healing.
